* The dog-house emissions are also to be directed together with the roasting drum emissions to wet scrubber to meet toe emission standard.

* * The unites have to install bio-gassifier to meet the emission standard specially wherever roasted shell is used for firing. Alternatively the deoiled cake may be used.

The Emission Standard for Plaster of Paris Industry as agreed by the Committee is as below:

An agenda on Emission Standard for Plaster of Paris Industry was placed in the 21st meeting of the Peer & Core Expert Committee. The Committee suggests to constitute a Sub-committee to review the standards (1000 mg/Nm3 at crusher and 2500 mg/Nm3 at calciner furnace) was considered as lenient. Accordingly, a Sub-committee was constituted under the Chairmanship of Prof. J. M. Dave. Two meetings of the Sub-committee were held.

The agenda was presented by the Deputy Director National Productivity Council, Delhi, to the Committee including recommendations of the Sub-committee.

The need to elaborate the development of green belt in terms of distance from source, height, nature of plantations etc., was expressed in the meeting.

It was also felt that the options for utilization of solid waste should be explored instead of disposing in low-lying areas.

Some members expressed that emission standard pf 500 mg/Nm3is lenient. However, considering the fact that at present small units are operating without any pollution control equipment and also due to inadequate resources for implementation of stricter norms, the Committee agreed with the proposed standard of 500 mg/Nm3

Guidelines : Fugitive Emission Control:

The particulate matter should not exceed 2000 ug/m3 at a distance of 3-10 from major dust generating sources.

Emission Standards for Electric Arc & Induction Furnaces

Agenda was placed in the 21st meeting of the Peer & Core Committee for approval of proposed standard. The Committee suggested to constitute a Sub-committee to review the standard. A Sub-committee was constituted under the Chairmanship of Prof. J.M. Dave. Two meetings of the Sub-committee were held.

The agenda item was presented by Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh including recommendation of the Sub-committee in 23rd meeting of the Peer & Core Committee. After detailed deliberations, the committee approved the standard as below

Guidelines:

a) Fugitive Emission Control

The particulate matter should not exceed ug/m3 at a distance of 3-10 m from major dust generating source from electric arc and induction furnaces.

b) Solid Waste Management

Hazardous Dust from bag filter should be handled as per Hazardous Waste Management Rules, 1989 as amended till date. Or it may be recycled in the process of making peletts etc.

c) Slag may be crushed, screened and sized for use in road construction or making concrete block depending on Composition.

TEXTILES

In Tirupur there are different plants.

Under this scheme, 50 % of the installation cost is born by the central government and the state government.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In textile industry, many industries have gone for treatment of waste water and the treated waste water is reused in the process. In many industries, there is virtually no waste water. This means they have overcome the water pollution problem.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In December 2008, a programme by the name of Treatment and Reuse of Textile Industry Effluents.

In this programme, CPCB will organize training program through IIT Delhi. The basic objective of the training program is to create awareness among the officials of State Pollution Control Boards, Pollution Control Committees and textile Industry. Number of participants will be about 25 and the duration will be 3 days. Venue will be IIT Delhi.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Slaughter House – similar training program is to be organized at Bangalore through environment management policy and research institute 25 people.
